Military Veteran Lee Zeldin Will Better Support Our Troops

Lee Zeldin Candidate for the First Congressional District of New York

The pollsters love to talk about votes from certain minority groups. Typically, these come up within the context of how the 2008 election will be decided.

What about the Army Green vote? Or the Air Force Blue vote (or the Navy Blue vote)? What about the Red and Gold of the United States Marine Corps?

Would you believe that within the 110th Congress (currently serving)—during wartime nonetheless—that vets serving in Congress are at all time lows? In 1977, 75 percent of Congressmen wore the uniform. Today, only about 25 percent have. Who’s looking out for us? Who knows what it’s like to wear that uniform to answer the call for our nation? Who knows what our troops need? Who recognizes what our vets require when they return?

Lee Zeldin, an Iraq war vet with the All Americans of the storied 82nd Airborne Division, is the answer to all those questions. And Zeldin needs our help.

Zeldin, still serving as a Captain in the reserves, has taken his fight in another direction. In November, he’s set to defeat an ultra-liberal Congressman with a track record of voting against our warriors fighting on the frontlines. Lee’s opponent has substantial support from wealthy benefactors—to the tune of more than $1 million—so Lee’s got his work cut out for him.

We’re calling all vets to support our 10 x 10 program, where those who wore the uniform and those who support us donate $10 a week for 10 weeks.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 by July 4—together with your help, we can do it. We need vets here to support our comrades over there. Let’s make Capitol Hill look like a VFW Hall.
